People who suffer from insomnia (and other sleeping challenges) hold a lot of tension related to sleeping. With all that tension it becomes almost impossible to fall asleep. On top of this tension, there is often a low of thinking going on and this is another thing that prevents sleep.

Falling asleep is a natural process that cannot be forced. It does not happen through willpower or logically thinking. You cannot force yourself to sleep. 

Sleep is spontaneous. To fall asleep – and stay asleep – you must first relax. When you learn to relax deeply, sleep happens all by itself and you can have a wonderfully rewarding and restful sleep.
